Mis amigos del Pacífico ya están a punto de empezar.
Y aqui en España, la gente va a por... ¡las uvas!

A ver si este año consigo no atragantarme...

Noch ein Paar Stunden, und dann geht's wieder los.
Hier werden die 12 Weintrauben pro Kopf gesucht.
Mitternacht, live von der Puerta del Sol, Glockenspiel, ganz Spanien verschluckt sich gleichzeitig!
Gott sei Dank, jeder hat dann auch ein Glass Sekt in der Hand und feiert mit vollem Mund!


Bientôt l'heure...

12 raisins (ni peau ni pépins) à portée de main;
en direct les 12 coups de minuit, par radio ou télé;
la coupe de Champagne remplie, mais plus pour longtemps;
et toute l'Espagne avale de travers, mais c'est pas grave:
il paraît que ça porte chance et que l'année (12 mois) sera prospère!


12 grapes

This tradition started in Spain in 1909 because there was a big grape harvest, the king of Spain decided to give grapes to everybody to eat on New Year's Eve.
The twelve grapes are linked to the Puerta del Sol tower clock, where this tradition started and from where the change of year is always broadcast.
It consists of eating a grape with each bell strike at midnight of December 31.
According to the tradition, that leads to a year of prosperity.

But nobody finishes eating the grapes on time.
Everybody starts the New Year with a full mouthful of grapes.
